Wow its been such a good spring so far. After I got a lot of things checked off on my Spring List I felt like I could really relax into spring. So far it has been awesome. From the best powder days in jackson to traveling across Colorado and Utah and enjoying amazing sunsets with purple mountains and dark luminous clouds, the wide open spaces of America just crush me. I am so overpowered by the beauty that our land has. The power of the freedom and the way the earth is built just mesmerizes me.
Sarah and I have had some good times, we are on the same free spring fun plan so we raced two races in Beaver Creek. She won both days and I got second both days. My brother was there and we got to hang out which is always a plus and to top it off he killed it with getting second both days as well, so i was stoked! Sarah and I had to then do a mad dash 12 hour drive round trip to Park City for spring testing. We loaded up on goods from Target which included some fun new cds. Rihanna, Lil Wayne, Kid Cudi and the new Arcade Fire got us all fired up. My voice hurts from screaming the Rihanna songs. Sarah and I were thinking we could start a band. Ha Ha that would be funny.
It was great to feel good about the season, look at testing results, talk with the trainers, start thinking about our next years program and get super motivated with sarah about our summer training plans and how we can improve and become the best. We got to stop by Rossignol and got excited about testing different set ups with our boots and other top secret stuff Sarah and I were coming up with! Its going to be a good time just training this year. After a season back Im ready to pick it up to the next step!
For now some rest and catching up so I can rip the last race of the season!
I had the best week. After some whirl wind traveling and racing I got to settle down at home for a major spring clean out and tax session. Kevin came into town so we could have a week of fun together. He had to drag me out to ski one day and it jump started the best skiing days of the year! It was a funny week of craving spring and that feeling of evolving into the next season and moving everything towards summer but we were getting tons and tons of snow so I was a bit confused. I was having such a dreamy week, getting excited for my month off and some toes in the sand time that I couldn’t help but share with you my favorite tricks that really come in handy for seasons like this, especially if you live somewhere like Jackson!
I am obsessed with these things and I hope it will help you get motivated and jump start your energy for spring!
* DIY salt/sugar scrubs are a must for me from all the winter wear and tear, dry climates and travel I feel like I need to scrub my body clean and fresh. I enjoy wholeliving.com for all the tricks to make up a concoction from your pantry.
* After a nice bath and sugar scrub I have to put on Albas kukui nut oil. I think when your body can’t get hydrated enough oils really help out. The scent makes me dream of Maui which can be good and bad.. ha ha
* As for the body time, end of the season is the time when I start to feel to most run down and not so stoked on my body. Its also a scary thought to be prancing around in a bikini so I advise some toning at the gym. tetonsportsclub.com from spinning sessions to yoga and whatever else you want to hammer out. Get an hour in a day at least and it will jump start the confidence! I know the classes are going to have a good spring plan!

* Other obsessions would be fresh smoothies and following any idea Gwyneth Paltrow has on her blog goop.com. Its really a cool one to follow since it has many different ideas and advise!

The beauty that stretches across the sky, the silent rumble of the BC elegance touches you as you make your way up from Vancouver to Whistler. Its so exciting following the ocean up to the base of the mountains. Skiing in deep powder that quickly changes to cement and the wetness you haven’t felt since you were a little kid skiing for the first time in the east coast. Its a fun adventure, to see everyone on the hill, my brother and I racing together for the first time in years. Carrying each others cloths and slipping the courses. The three day trip was an adventure. Coming from Europe with a 6 hour layover at home to repack and make it up to Canada and then straight into racing was a startle. To wake up vomiting was not that pleasurable. I managed to finish the races with two third places which Im happy with.
Coming back down to the stunning Canadian coast to see the sun set was spectacular. I was mesmerized by the beauty. The strength in that beauty. I have always dreamed of a place where ocean and snow could BE in one day. For me that was just a lucky personality trait for kevin and I and our connecting souls. To actually be able to touch the ocean and then ski would be a dream. Whistler has it and its cool. Watching the boats go out to the little islands off the coast and the peaceful water that looks a bit chilling this time of year is so hauntingly sexy. I sort of had a moment of falling in love. A true sight to see.
Now back on a plane for the next adventure.
I had a very moving couple days. There is just something in the air. I had amazing training, really focused. Charging extra hard. The sun has been so amazing, spring skiing is the best, but I feel like it has been extra lifting. So much energy. spending time with friends out in the mountains is just so powerful sometimes, training, pushing for something. Dreams. Giving inspiration to people, everyones lives are connected and we have to give so much love with the world that is ever changing. From People like Bethany Hamilton to the people in Japan whose lives have changed in a second. The world is connected and the only thing you can do sometimes is send love out. Kindness should be your only worry. Love, be loved, give, forgive and be Kind. We only have one life and we are all here for each other and its so important to let all the small stuff go. There are way bigger issues beyond your small petty materialistic things. Be happy. Smile, Laugh, make your tummy hurt from being over joyed! Never forget that dreams really do come true! Respect, love, laugh, give, sing, dance, help, be free, and be happy!
I would like to Introduce Mikaela Shiffrin to you. She is our new team mate. Lovely girl, very fun to have new blood. If you take Sarahs age and divide it in half and then subtract two years thats how old she is. She is closer to Lasses age than Sarahs. Pretty much she is young, cool and going to be kickin some butt! She is here with us for her first world cup. We are in Spindleruv Mlyn, Cezh Rep. Sarah and I gave her the rookie option of either shaving her head ( like the men do to there rookies) or shaving her eye brows. I told her that would be the better choice since they grow back faster. Ha ha noooo I would never, I think just having to be stuck with two crazy girls like Sarah and I is punishment enough! Welcome to the Crazy team and have a fun first World cup!
It was a beautiful drive up and I remember racing here about 5 years ago and loving it. Things feel great after some really awesome training and I am just one ball of happiness!
Growing up in such a beautiful place its always fun to share my favorite little moments that I cherish since I was a little girl. This view out my front door is what I would look at every night before I went to bed and when I woke up there would always be a big fluffy beautiful present of snow for me to go play in. Sweet Dreams!
