Wake up and smell the Coffee

Back in Europe. I had the most amazing week off. It feels so nice to have a week off when you really need it. When you need to get away and get back to your roots and what you love. Jackson was beautiful. Lots of fun powder to ski. Good family and friend meet ups and lots of good food. My favorite part had to be just ripping down the mountain, skiing all day, smiling ear to ear with Kevin. We were on a hunt for freshies and we had a blast just being outside all day doing what I love!
Now back to the serious stuff. My flight was by far the best flight I have ever had. My whole trip from jackson to Munich took about as long as it does for me to fly Munich to Atlanta. I had only one quick stop in Chicago, which by the way is on top of it with the healthy food and clean environment! I don’t even think I can possible be jet lagged with a trip that easy. Rog was on the flight so we grabbed our favorite landing treat. A double shot vanilla Latte from the munich Starbucks. I never drink Starbucks but for some reason here in Germany it tastes a lot better! Then off on a beautiful drive to Kaprun we went.
I was so lucky to be able to be the only one here today. Everyone is slowly trickling in so I got to have a solo day of training. Its amazing what it feels like. 4 coaches to one athlete I guess thats one of the reasons Lindsey is so confident. When you have all that attention there is no room for complaining or whimping out. Everyone is out there for you and only you and so of course you want to make it the best training day ever! I really got my feet back under me. A few lean ins and some crashes and some really fast turns I am back in form. The snow was injected so its perfect and we have a new hill to train on which is nice for muscle memory. Now just get over the travel, and get ready for Germany!

Never have I Ever

Never have I ever had the chance to ski a cancelled world cup course. Today was a beautiful morning and I was super pumped up and ready to dominate. Bummer the snow just didn’t set up and it was way to warm. The race crew did everything they could to get it ready for us but it was just not going to happen. The cool thing was that Sarah and I got to ski the race course. They let us just rip it up on our way down. It was kinda nice to see what the race would have been like. The snow was actually really really bad so it was good to know that they really did do everything they could and that it was fair and safe to cancel it. We went back around for another run because we were having so much fun. I guess its good to get a few runs on the race hill for next year! Now off to Tarvisio for some Europa Cups!

Slovenia

I had way to much fun taking weird shots out the car window as we were whizzing by the Slovenian sunset on our way to Maribor. I don’t know why I was so into trying to capture this beautiful sunset through a dirty car window but for some reason those are some of my favorite shots, the ones that are not suppose to be good. Funky. I like it that way.

At the moment I am tasting the white wine from the city that they make special for this race. It is a very delicious one and I am enjoying a glass and some internet time in a new hotel for us. We have stayed in the same hotel for 10 years and It lead to some serious confusion when we got here and we tried to go back to that old nasty hotel. Two bossy girls and one understanding coach was a 30 min session through the old city trying to escape permanent blockades and secret codes to leave old town. It ended in a very pleasant surprising new hotel. The people are sooooo nice, asking what I needed to eat…. a little birdie told them I have food issues. So I got yumminess for dinner. It is very nice to take a little moment for myself. I think the owner is a fan of mine! He just pulled out his movie box and we are watching water world! love it!

I am remembering that I need to get into the culture, not just shut myself into my room or do the same old same old. Tomorrow I want to walk around the center and go to the underground cellars which are about 6 miles of underground passageways which were built I think I have been told as wine cellars and were used to hide in during the war. Maribor use to be Austrian. Ill learn more tomorrow and get back to you on the facts! The weather here is very warm and nice which is not normal. Its usually very dark and ugly. After a major ran shower Its quite pleasant and Im impressed there is any snow left. We will see tomorrow what it looks like! Lots of chemicals will be brought out to make this thing happen! Well cheers to everyone around the world and lots of love!

Another quote that I am really into. Thanks Steven for this one.

I’ve come to believe that there exists in the universe something I call “The Physics of The Quest”- a force of nature governed by laws as real as the laws gravity or momentum.
And the rule of Quest Physics maybe goes like this: “If you are brave enough to leave behind everything familiar and comforting(which can be anything from your house to your bitter old resentments)and set out on a truth-seeking journey(either externally or
internally),and if you are truly willing to regard everything that happens to you on that journey as a clue, and if you accept everyone you
meet along the way as a teacher, and if you are prepared - most of all -to face (and forgive) some very difficult realities about yourself….then truth will not be withheld from you.” Or so I’ve come to believe.”

The lights are so bright

OH the lights tonight are so bright
I look up into the moon
My smile is so big so happy
I feel the love pump through my veins
I am ready I want it
I do what I am suppose to do
I want it sooooo badly
I try but it just doesn’t do what I want it to do
I hold the tears in, try not to punch the camera man
I breathe
Its my 5th world cup back
Im ok Im fast Im good Im great Im better than this
Get back up there and do it again
I let some tears go like a child
Quickly distract myself and hang with my awesome team mates who came to watch
Gobble down dinner, drive back to our Austrian Home
Have a good laugh with my mother In-law
Decide Ill call my pops on this one and see what he has to say, what advice can he give me!
Im ready to do whatever it takes!
Oh the lights were so bright tonight!

Inspiration from my girl Cecile

“Don’t seek, don’t search, don’t ask, don’t knock, don’t demand – relax. If you relax, it comes. If you relax, it is there. If you relax, you start vibrating with it.” Osho.

“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions”

Love these words of wisdom! Thank you!
