Day ONE!

Im out of surgery and feeling great. I had a good day checking in with Doc Sterett and he said I was doing really well. My bones looked great so he decided to go in and take everything out of my leg. I had hardware in my femur and Tibia. I went into surgery a little nervous and bumming and came out great. He said my leg looked great, he cleaned it up but there was not much work to be done and my bones looked strong so I will heal fast! For the first time I have had good news and it felt great to get it. I needed this! Its day one, I feel good, Im not to sick, I didn’t need to sleep in the hospital and I even got out for a small crutch walk to get some fresh air. I can’t stop sleeping and eating. Its amazing what your body does to heal! Im excited for this adventure! I can’t wait to feel better and start training all over again. Im doing butt crunches as we speak! he he

Prepare to Prepare

Breakfast in Jackson, Testing In Park City, Dinner in Denver. I am prepping for surgery. I went to Park City to check in with the team and test. It felt pretty good for how little I have been able to do. I have been on my road bike and hiking and ocean playing a lot but other than that I felt like I couldn’t get my strength up because of the hardware in my leg. Which is why I am now in Vail. I go into surgery tomorrow and Im stoked because I thought I was only going to get the metal out in my femur but found out the bones look good so Im going to take it all out. In the long run this should feel much better and help me improve on strength.
I had a great time in PC had dinner with a teammate, got to visit with Jenny who takes amazing care of me and then I even got to see my brother and we had the chance to bike around the DU campus and see the school and training facility and his house and have some good food and laughs!
Now its time for some seriousness….. just kidding, hopefully I won’t be too messed up on pain pills tomorrow and will get some good photos for you to check out or some form of documentation of what its like to have to plan on going into surgery. Which by the way is really strange, its playing with my mind. Mind over matter!
PS props to my trainer Ernie and his awesome mullet!
