New York
A New York sunrise has to be one of the most beautiful. Its beauty is different then the tropical mornings or the crisp mountain mornings. Its when the city is the most peaceful, the river is glassy and the sun has the evening blood-orange look to it that almost makes you forget its morning, but it gets me when I cross the bridge leaving the city.
I have been traveling a bunch lately and loving it. I am so obsessed with seeing different parts of the world or really conquering a city or place and feeling like you left with a little piece of it. Spain was so much fun with camping and the freedom of independence. NYC was a blast because I had a few days to spend adventuring in the city and not just working. Man people who live there must have the strongest feet because after one day all I want to do is lay down with my feet up getting them massaged. Kevin got to see the city for the first time and that was pretty fun to show him around, and boy did we get around. We were uptown, downtown, soho, noho, time square, central park, we biked around the outside of the Manhattan which for any of you who go to NYC often is a great way to get a little exercise and see the city. YOu can just rent a bike for a couple hours and head to the bike path, nice to get off our feet and some wind against your face. The park is so nice in the morning too. Its amazing how many people there are and how fast everyone moves. I think that can be a bit shocking to see for the first time.
My favorite thing in New York is the food. There are so many options. My cousin Elise and I are Gluten Free and so its always nice to find places that have good food that we can eat. There is a place called Riosetteria its located at 270 Bleecker street. It is the only GF restaurant in NYC and its a pizzeria, with fabulous bread sticks and my favorite, chocolate cupcakes. I went there twice this trip and eat so much!!!!!! Its always a treat to have good food and especially when its food you rarely get.
It was a great week of fast moving, big city exploring but its time to go home. It has been so long it feels like. My brother is back from school and my cousins are in town, so its going to be fun in the next few weeks. Lots of Mt. biking and camping and backpacking. I cant wait!
