Park City

Its already the end of June, crazy, time just flies by sometimes. Back in Park City for testing. I am super excited to test and see how the last couple months of training have gone. It is the first time I have had a couple of months of serious lifting since I was injuried so I want to see how I have done. I feel pretty good, I feel probably the best I have felt in a long time. Lets keep it that way. I know its only a day but I already miss jackson and dont even want to leave for a day. This morning was beautiful! Love getting up before the sunrise and seeing the day start, magical!

Home time

Im home!!!!!!! It has been beautiful. It is amazingly green here. I guess lucky me I was gone for the three weeks of rain, so I showed up just in time. I could barely find my house, it is a jungle up here. Perfect temperature, rivers are running high, mountains still have snow on them and its so crisp and gorgeous. I love waking up in the morning and listening to the birds right outside my window and watching the moose walk by. My cousin Elise and I went on a hike up on the mountain and it felt like our own play ground. We saw the cutest fox and her five little babies. I wanted to steal one.

My brother, dad and I went on a hike for fathers day and that was fun to all be together. Summer in jackson is so fun, breezy, pool time at Padgetts, crackin music, eating on the deck, always outdoors, family, great food, laughter, we get to finally shed a layer. And those afternoon thunderstorms, cant beat thunder that rocks the valley like that. Im only missing one thing…… But if sure feels good to be home.

PS. I had a huge cleaning freak out, cleaned out the whole garage, found some skis for anyone who wants to buys some. Cleaned out the closets so call if you need some cloths!

New York

newyork copy

A New York sunrise has to be one of the most beautiful. Its beauty is different then the tropical mornings or the crisp mountain mornings. Its when the city is the most peaceful, the river is glassy and the sun has the evening blood-orange look to it that almost makes you forget its morning, but it gets me when I cross the bridge leaving the city.

I have been traveling a bunch lately and loving it. I am so obsessed with seeing different parts of the world or really conquering a city or place and feeling like you left with a little piece of it. Spain was so much fun with camping and the freedom of independence. NYC was a blast because I had a few days to spend adventuring in the city and not just working. Man people who live there must have the strongest feet because after one day all I want to do is lay down with my feet up getting them massaged. Kevin got to see the city for the first time and that was pretty fun to show him around, and boy did we get around. We were uptown, downtown, soho, noho, time square, central park, we biked around the outside of the Manhattan which for any of you who go to NYC often is a great way to get a little exercise and see the city. YOu can just rent a bike for a couple hours and head to the bike path, nice to get off our feet and some wind against your face. The park is so nice in the morning too. Its amazing how many people there are and how fast everyone moves. I think that can be a bit shocking to see for the first time.

My favorite thing in New York is the food. There are so many options. My cousin Elise and I are Gluten Free and so its always nice to find places that have good food that we can eat. There is a place called Riosetteria its located at 270 Bleecker street. It is the only GF restaurant in NYC and its a pizzeria, with fabulous bread sticks and my favorite, chocolate cupcakes. I went there twice this trip and eat so much!!!!!! Its always a treat to have good food and especially when its food you rarely get.
It was a great week of fast moving, big city exploring but its time to go home. It has been so long it feels like. My brother is back from school and my cousins are in town, so its going to be fun in the next few weeks. Lots of Mt. biking and camping and backpacking. I cant wait!

I am in Spain, and its amazing. I cant remember the last time I was in Europe in the summer but its really nice. Especially going to a new place. We are in Costa Brava which is an area close to Barcelona on the cost that is suppose to have amazing wind. So far its been amazing but no wind. We are camping right on the beach and in biking distance of L’Escala and Roses. Its the region of lots of road bike riding and serious inspiration of Dali, among other things.

We are camping right on the beach which I love and with great showers and I can cook a lot which makes the camping part a lot more enjoyable. I brought my bike which was brillant because I have had a chance to go everyday on long rides around the country and it is a great way to adventure and see a city. Its been quite an adventure exploring and trying to find your way around and find a gym and some cool ruins and look for Lance. I keep thinking Ill run into him around here somewhere. he he The roads are a bit small though which makes the biking a bit scary.

I love waking up in the early morning and just walking out on the beach and doing some yoga and jumping in the ocean. Its amazing how cool it feels to start your day that way. So peaceful but gets you going in the perfect way. The wine here is amazing and I have not gotten any headaches which is nice. I seem to be getting them more and more, probably from the sulfates. But the wine seems to be better for me in the region. Its so great to ride through wheat farms and apple orchards and see a country so close up and personal.

Heidy, Robby Swifts girlfriend had been a great friend to have around because she is interested in a lot of the some things as I am. We wanted to go check out the Museum of Salvador Dali and were lucky enough to get a quick trip to see it since it is so close to here. Robby took us and he was worried he was going to miss his windsurfing heat so we rushed through it. But let me tell you it was insane, from the beginning. There were eggs on the roof and bread on the wall and he is very sexual person. The art is so crazy, all the different time periods and to see an artists work and to be in the area that he worked and was inspired was just such a learning experience. You can see the area of Costa Brava in his work and also pick out how unique and crazy he is. What a gift.

I did get to go out in L’Escala for a delicious meal and I tried for my first time live oysters and had fresh scallops and some other local fresh fish. I love seafood and especially when its fresh and local! yum yum

My trip is coming close to being over, which I am sad about but ready for the next adventure. Sorry to say the wind was not good at all so Kevin has not been racing a lot, just waiting around hoping it will happen so he can turn it on and take some people down. I am going to try for some Mountain biking tomorrow and then maybe if there is still now wind tomorrow then maybe a night out in Barca!

Back in Maui! It was just getting nice in Jackson which is always hard to leave. I had a great couple weeks at home, hiked the pass a few times, got some good hang out time with my dad and cousins, cooking up meals and getting into hiking and biking. Its always hard to jump back into the training program with two work outs a day. But it feels good to be on the real program and not rehab.

I am here in Maui for just a week or so and so are some of my team mates. Keely Kelleher, Hailey Duke and Megan McJames. Im super stoked to have some training buddies, makes the work outs go faster and more exciting. I think there is going to be some rock running and adventuring going on. There is bound to be some good stories coming up for you guys!

So of course we are not always training and playing. We have to get all dolled up and talk about our selves once in a while. NBC had an Olympic shoot. Were they get everything ready for the Olympics, Interviews, Photo shoots, Radio and talk shows. Its all part of the Rodeo. The shoot was in West Hollywood which was new for me and it was super fun. All the people who worked it were so nice and they had the whole thing organized to perfection, from healthy good to our own sweet little carriers and fun activities. It was also good to see some of the other athletes that will compete for Team USA. Gets the Olympic Spirit up. And Yes for those of you who cant believe it, its is already time for the next Olympics. Vancouver 2010 baby! Here are some fun shoots of the day and the Jamba Juice is from the Denver airport where I should really just get an apartment because I spend so much time there. I am addicted to Jamba juice and if you go through that airport they have one on the second level of concourse B. A healthy treat in a hectic travel day!

I skied today!!!!!!!! it was so fun! I went up with my friend Charlotte, I was scared my foot was going to hurt, but it felt pretty good. It was also at major elevation so I had to take it slow, but it was a beautiful day and I was smiling the whole time I was huffing up that Mountain. The snow was heavy but I was so excited to ski, it really calmed my mind and reminded me I still know how to ski. Sometimes you just need an adventure to keep the dream alive!
